Preview: A study of how, why, and when we should witness for God. This is the ninth lesson in a thirteen-part series on this subject.

Pre-reading: John 10:1-30 & Luke 24:36-49.

Scripture Reading: I Corinthians 15:1-4.

Memory Verse: Matthew 1:21.

1. Did the prophets foretell the birth, death, and resurrection of Jesus in the foregoing Scripture Reading and Memory Verse many years before it happened? Discuss.
Note: Many false ‘Christs’ (saviors) have arisen to establish their religion, but they have all died. Jesus Christ is the only true hope that was offered for man’s salvation hundreds of years before His birth. He is the only Savior who has risen from the dead, and is now making intercession for us before God the Father.
2. What does man have the power in himself to overcome? Romans 7:20-25.
3. What assurance do we have that Christ is able to deliver us from the wretchedness of sin? Jude 1:21, Jude 1:24-25, I Peter 1:3-5.
Note: As witnesses we must keep in mind that a ‘sinner’ must realize that he is living a wretched, joyless, and defeated life before he is likely to be receptive to this message of deliverance.
4. By what authority can we assure sinners that Jesus is alive and working on their behalf? I John 2:1-2, Romans 8:34, Hebrews 7:25.
Note: Go and tell them that Jesus died for their sins. He finished the plan of redemption on the cross. He arose from the dead. He is now in Heaven at the right hand of God. He is ready to save all who will call on His Name.
5. How must sinners call on Him?
    A. Believe: John 3:16, Acts 16:31.
    B. Receive: John 1:12, Romans 10:13, Isaiah 45:22.
6. Is this promise offered to all who will believe and receive it? Why or why not? Acts 10:43, Acts 13:39.
7. What hope is there for those who will not believe in Him? John 3:36.
8. What must one do when he believes and receives this promise? Romans 10:8-11.
9. How did Jesus explain His role in God’s plan? John 8:28-32.
10. What will happen to us if we do not witness to this fact? John 8:23-24.
Note: No one who will believe and receive Him is excluded. When we accept this promise for ourselves, we will be eager to tell others that their salvation was also purchased at Calvary, and there is no other way of escaping destruction.
