Preview: Christ is our Rock. We must anchor our faith in Him. This is the first of a three-part lesson of the same name.
Scripture Reading: Psalm 61:1-8.
Memory Verse: I Corinthians 10:4.
1. When and where was the Church’s first encounter with Christ? Exodus 17:1-7.
2. When and where was the second mention of this encounter? Numbers 20:1-13.
3. How do we know that this was Christ? I Corinthians 10:1-4.
Note: Let us not ignore the fact that this was a spiritual encounter with Christ as well as a physical encounter as the result of His presence.
4. How many times did Christ die for our sins? Romans 6:10, Hebrews 7:27, Hebrews 9:28.
Note: If that Rock was to typify Christ, then the water that flowed from the Rock was symbolic of the witness that was in Christ.
5. What does the Apostle John have to say of the witness that was in Jesus? I John 5:6-8, Psalm 34:20, John 19:31-35, Zechariah 12:10.
6. Where did God hide Moses while He passed by? Exodus 33:18-23.
7. How did David’s great song of triumph start? II Samuel 22:2-3, Psalm 18:2. (This was David’s song that he loved to sing.)
8. Was David’s acquaintance with the Rock beneficial? Why? II Samuel 22:30-33.
9. How does Isaiah describe the Rock? Isaiah 32:2.
