Preview: A look at what we should be doing in remembrance of the Passover. This is the second lesson in a two-part series on this subject.

Scripture Reading: Matthew 26:17-29.

Memory Verse: Hebrews 10:10.

1. Can we see how Christ instituted the communion of bread and wine to represent His Body and Blood in the foregoing Scriptures?
Note: As the lambs symbolized the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, so also does the bread and wine. Since Jesus died on the fourteenth day of Abib or Nisan (when the Passover was killed), He could not have eaten the Passover lamb, because the lambs died at the same time that He did, and were not to be eaten until sundown, which was then the fifteenth. He did, however, eat unleavened bread as commanded, and became the sacrificial Lamb on the same day. He kept the Passover in its fullest sense of the Word- on the fourteenth day of Nisan.
2. How important was it that this feast be observed at the appointed place and time? Exodus 12:46 & Leviticus 23:5.
3. What was required before one was worthy to participate? Exodus 12:47-50.
4. What did circumcision represent? Romans 2:28-29, Galatians 5:1-6, Galatians 6:15, & Colossians 2:6 & Colossians 2:9-12.
Note: Circumcision represents the change that takes place in our hearts when Christ dwells there. The physical conversion profits nothing without a change of heart.
5. What was our promise for a new heart? Hebrews 10:16-23.
6. What other example did Christ institute at His Last Supper? How did Peter react? John 13:1-9 & John 13:12-17.
Note: Jesus said if we want to be happy and be with Him we must humble ourselves and follow His example in serving and caring for others.
7. How did Paul instruct the Church at Corinth to follow this example? I Corinthians 11:20-26.
8. What awesome warning did he give us? I Corinthians 10:14-17, I Corinthians 10:21 & I Corinthians 11:28-33.
9. What sacrifice must we offer today in order to partake of the Blood and Body of Christ? Romans 12:1-2.
10. Who alone is this Bread of Life? John 6:47-58.
Note: Let us examine our lives by His Word, purge out any sin, and come with clean hands and pure hearts at the appointed place and time.
