Preview: This is the second part of a nine-part series of lessons entitled: FEAR.

Scripture Reading: Malachi 3:13-18.

Memory Verse: Psalm 111:10.

1. What kind of contrast do we find between those who fear God and those who do not according to the foregoing Scripture Reading and Memory Verse?
2. What did Paul say about fear in his letter to Timothy? II Timothy 1:2, II Timothy 1:5-8.
3. What did Jesus tell His disciples about fear? John 14:21-27.
4. Did Jesus fear anyone? Why? Hebrews 5:1, Hebrews 5:4-10.
Note: Jesus did not choose to be a high priest, but was chosen by God. The seventh verse of Hebrews five makes it clear that He feared and reverenced the Father. How can we do less?
5. What is the only kind of fear that is acceptable to God? Hebrews 12:28-29.
6. Should the fear of God always be present in us? Why? Proverbs 28:13-14.
7. Why did Joshua tell Reuben and Gad that their altar must be built in the fear of the Lord? Joshua 22:19, Joshua 22:21-27, Joshua 22:34.
Note: The Old Testament seems to place more emphasis on fear, while the New Testament emphasized love. Godly fear mingled with godly love constitutes a right attitude toward God.
8. Why does it expel our fear of other things when we fear God? Luke 21:9-19.
9. What does perfect love (which is also fear) for God do for us? I John 4:16-18.
Note: When we have a perfect love for God it leaves no room for any type of fear except our fear of God.
