The Great Commission to the Church: Part 2 of 2

Preview: God has asked His children to spread His Word. This is the second part of a two-part lesson on this subject.


Scripture Reading: Deuteronomy 6:1-9.

Memory Verse: Proverbs 22:6.

1. Should our commission to teach God’s Word begin at home according to the foregoing Scriptures? Discuss.
2. Where is our greatest mission field sometimes found? Mark 5:1-8, Mark 5:11, Mark 5:13, Mark 5:18-20.
Note: Christianity must first begin in the life and home of the witness. We cannot share with others what we ourselves do not have. We are required to be godly examples wherever we are.
3. Where are we commissioned to be witnesses? Acts 17:16-23, Luke 24:12-16, Luke 24:27-32.
4. Where should we witness to others? Mark 2:14.
5. Who is witnessing limited to? John 4:7-18, John 4:28-30, John 4:39, John 1:35-42.
Note: Historically, women have hesitated to witness because they are women, but the story of Jesus and the woman at the well is proof that anyone who is willing to trust and obey God can be empowered by His spirit to share the good news of the Gospel concerning Christ to both men and women. Very little has been written about Andrew, but because of his spirit of faithfulness in introducing his brother Peter to Christ we have all of those records of the life and ministry of his brother.
6. How can God’s children persuade non-Christians to believe in Jesus? John 12:28, John 12:32, John 12:34-35, Romans 1:16-17, I Corinthians 2:1-14.                  Note: We can only lift Jesus up by proclaiming the Gospel through word and action and leave the outcome with the Holy Spirit of God. Read I Corinthians 3:6-9.
7. Can there be salvation without believing in the deity of Christ? Why not? John 20:28-29, John 20:31.
8. What does it require to believe in the deity of Christ? Matthew 18:1-5, Matthew 19:13-14.
9. Is it difficult for those who are wise in this world to have child-like faith and trust in God? Discuss. I Corinthians 2:7-8, I Corinthians 2:13-14, I Corinthians 3:18-21.
10. What can worldly wealth prevent us from accepting? Matthew 19:21-24, I Timothy 6:9-11, I Timothy 6:17.
11. Can one accept the deity of Jesus if he does not love God? Explain. I John 5:1-7.
Note: When we truly accept the deity of Christ, He becomes our Lord and Savior. We will also love God and obey His will, which is expressed in His Commandments. We cannot love Jesus and His father without loving our fellowman. That is God’s great commission to all of His born-again sons and daughters- GO AND SPREAD THE WORD!
