Preview: This is the first of a two-part lesson about how prayer affects our lives and our salvations.


Scripture Reading: I Peter 3:1-7.

Memory Verse: Luke 18:1.

1. Can a poor relationship in marriage hinder one’s prayers according to the Scripture Reading? Discuss.
2. How persistent should our prayer life be? Luke 18:1-8.
Note: We should never cease to pray. I Thessalonians 5:17.
3. What results when we sincerely seek God in prayer? Matthew 7:7-11.
Note: Prayer is the opening of the heart to God as to a friend.
4. How willing is God to give us all good things? Luke 12:29-32, Romans 8:31-32.
5. From whom do all good and perfect gifts come? James 1:17.
6. How does one get wisdom? James 1:5.
7. How must we ask in order to receive? James 1:6-7, Mark 11:24.
8. Can we expect God’s forgiveness when we do not forgive? Why not? Mark 11:25-26.
Note: Prayer is the key in the hand of faith that unlocks Heaven’s storehouse where treasures and bundles of resources are.
9. Under what condition does the Lord not hear prayer? Psalm 66:18, Isaiah 59:1-2, James 4:3.
10. Whose prayers are an abomination to God? Proverbs 28:7-9.
Note: Prayer does not change God but it does change us and our relationship to God. It places us in the channel of blessings and in the frame of mind in which God can consistently and safely grant our request.
