Preview: A lesson on what needs to be done by individuals in order to be saved.

Scripture Reading: Romans 6:1-12.

Memory Verse: Romans 6:3.

1. What rites are necessary for those who will be saved? Mark 16:15-16.
2. What is the first step for the sinner to take in order to be saved? Acts 2:38.
3. What advice did the apostle give to the jailer who desired to be saved? Acts 16:27-31.
4. How does salvation necessitate something more than a mere belief in God? James 2:19.
5. What was Ananias’ advice to Saul when he accepted Christ? Acts 22:16.
Note: Baptism alone does not save us; neither can the water wash away our sins. Christ Himself forgives the sins of those who repent and seek the mercies of God. Christ receives those who repent, and He blots out their sins which are recorded in the books above. After an individual has been cleansed from unrighteousness he rises to walk in newness of life, and the Holy Spirit leads him into all truth.
6. How did Paul illustrate the importance of baptism? Romans 6:4.
7. What happened when Jesus came out of the water? Matthew 3:16, Mark 1:10 & Luke 3:22.
8. Did the disciple John perform water baptism in shallow water? What is the significance? John 3:23.
9. Is water baptism a symbol of something other than the death and burial of Christ? Discuss. Romans 6:5.
10. How did Paul describe the life we should live after baptism? Romans 6:21-22.
Note: Being crucified with Christ leaves an experience that cannot be denied nor forgotten. It takes something real to make a man fall out with the ways of sin to walk in the path of righteousness.
11. Why should we have a strong belief in Christ before we are baptized? Acts 8:37.
Note: We are sure to fall by the wayside if we start with Christ when we hardly believe in Him. An individual’s efforts to accept Christ are defeated in the beginning if he or she fails to believe in Him with all of his or her heart.
