Trials and Their Objective

Preview: Many trials will crop up throughout our lives to strengthen our faith and our patience. We must learn how to handle them in a way that will benefit us the most.


Scripture Reading: I Peter 1:1-19.

Memory Verse: Matthew 5:10.

1. What does the Apostle Peter say concerning the trials through which believers must pass? I Peter 4:12-13.
2. How important is the trial of our faith? Why? I Peter 1:7.
Note: When David was fleeing through the wilderness pursued by his son, he was being prepared to become the sweet singer of Israel. Nothing just “happens” to a Christian, everything that enters his life is sent or permitted to come by an all-wise and all loving Father. Even failures, if taken rightly, may become stepping stones to higher ground.
3. What reason did Paul give for glorying in tribulations? Romans 5:1-5.
4. What should God’s people expect to face? Matthew 10:17-22, Matthew 10:26-28.
5. What, according to the prophecy of Daniel, was to befall the people of God through the ages? Daniel 11:33.

13. What promise is made to those who endure the trials and temptations of this life? James 1:12.
Note: Our sorrows do not spring out of the ground. God does not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men. When He permits trials and afflictions, it is for our benefit so that we might be partakers of His Holiness.
